Dr Robert Jones

Robert has nearly 50 years’ experience in Dental and Oral Surgery, Orthodontics and, for the last 20 years, International experience in the field of Aesthetic Medicine.

“I graduated from Guy’s Hospital Dental School, London in 1976 and worked for 8 years in the Hospital and National Health Services in London, Kent and Wales, including the establishment of several successful private Practices…

I studied general practitioner Orthodontics during this period before spending several years in the United States studying Maxillo -Facial Surgery as well as running an aviation company, Atlantic Bridge Aviation- there must be a psychological link somewhere there!!!

In 1994, I undertook a partnership, and eventual succession, in a large multi discipline Practice in Germany, where my role was, primarily, in the field of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery, Orthodontics and Cosmetic Dentistry.

I spent the period 2000-2005, working in Southern Africa, in the Oral Surgery department of a hospital as well as part- time in a private Dental Practice.

I am an accredited provider of INVISALIGN orthodontic treatments.

Over the last 20 years, I have undertaken advanced training, teaching and clinical practice in the use of Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers, not only for their therapeutic (medicinal) uses, but also for their applications in cosmetic and appearance treatments.

I am accredited by TC Aesthetic Academy in Harley Street, London and also by the Australasian Academy of Dento Facial Aesthetics (AADFA). I am admitted to the International Fellowship in Advanced Aesthetic Science, having interned in Seoul, Korea.

I am a past trainer and lecturer with  the MATA training academy of Aesthetic Medicine, awarding Level 7 diplomas to postgraduate students.

I hold professional memberships of the New Zealand Dental Association (NZDA), New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (NZACD), New Zealand Society for Sedation and Anaesthesia in Dentistry (NZSSAD) and the Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ) as well as the International Fellowship in Advanced Aesthetic Science (IFAAS).

I have always had a keen interest in sport, playing representative Rugby, Cricket and Squash in a past life!” These days I divide my time between families in both New Zealand and the. UK, enjoying the cycling and walking opportunities in both.

Registered Midwife & Aesthetic practitioner

Lisa Crabtree

Hi, I’m Lisa, a registered Midwife with over 10 years of experience in the healthcare profession. I am passionate about helping people feel confident, refreshed, and achieving the very best version of themselves, that they aspire to.

As a mother of two, I understand the importance of self-care and taking time to invest in your own wellbeing. When I’m not working, you’ll often find me at the gym enjoying spinning; Legs, Bums & Tums classes, or out walking in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales with my family. These activities help me maintain a healthy balance between family life, work, and looking after myself.

My approach to aesthetics is centred on enhancing your natural beauty, delivering subtle, confidence-boosting results in a safe, professional, and welcoming environment. I believe aesthetic treatments should help you look and feel your best while maintaining the features that make you uniquely you.

My priority is ensuring every client feels comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their journey, and I take pride in creating natural-looking results that leave you feeling refreshed and empowered.

I am excited to be joining Carleton Cosmetic Clinic and developing my knowledge and skills, particularly in the field of therapeutic (medicinal) treatments, alongside Cosmetic and Appearance medicine.

The Truth About Filler Longevity: Longevity, Migration, and Fixes

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers primarily migrate and persist rather than simply dissolving on a predictable 6 to 12-month timeline. While the body’s natural enzymes do break down HA, cross-linking in fillers makes them highly resistant. Consequently, un-dissolved gel deposits can remain trapped and shift under the skin for years.

The Science of “Dissolving” vs. Reality

  • Long-Term Persistence: MRI studies have revealed HA filler residue lingering in the skin 5, 10, or even 15 years after the initial injection. The gel does not magically disappear; it integrates into your soft tissue and continues to draw in water.
  • Natural Breakdown Limitations: Your body naturally produces an enzyme (hyaluronidase) that breaks down HA. However, this natural breakdown is most active in the first few weeks following an injection. The body does not maintain sustained, high levels of this enzyme long-term, as it would destroy your body’s native HA.

Understanding Filler Migration

  • How It Happens: Filler does not just sit completely still. Over time, factors like gravity, repetitive facial muscle movements (smiling, chewing, talking), and lymphatic spread cause the gel to disperse and settle into surrounding areas.
  • Overfilling: Migration is highly accelerated by repeatedly “topping up” the same area with too much product over time, eventually causing the tissue to lose its shape and the filler to spill out of the original injection plane.

How to Fix It

If you notice lumps, puffiness, or volume where it shouldn’t be (such as above the lip border or under the eyes), the filler needs to be actively corrected:

  • Synthetic Hyaluronidase: A trained practitioner can inject synthetic hyaluronidase, an enzyme that safely breaks down and dissolves the HA gel, allowing your body to naturally reabsorb it.
  • Multiple Sessions: Because migrated filler is often spread out into the tissue, achieving a complete correction may require multiple sessions of hyaluronidase.

For more information on correcting and managing migrated HA fillers, consult an experienced medical professional to explore options.
